It's amazing what rummaging through an old tool box will offer. This is probably the oldest bike "part" that I own. Purchased sometime back in 1993 or 94. I haven't looked at it in probably 10 years.

Way back in the golden years, someone had the wise idea to create a peg that was not required to be threaded directly on the axle, but rather, slip over it, using the axle nut to fasten it - just like a washer. Any kid at a skatepark today would laugh off such a modification, but when it happened, it was huge. No more stripped axles - instead, they just became U-shapes after about a dozen peg tricks. Just the same, it was a major change.

Following on this trend, William P. Nitzche, created Pulse pegs, with the famed flatlander, Perry "the putsky" Mavar. Bill eventually went it alone, later creating Indy Industries - one of the first rider-owned bike companies. Indy Industries later merged with Standard Bikes, who stole Bill's original peg design, gave him zero credit for it , and left him out in the cold.
